Bantham surf life saving club has just returned from the National Inshore rescue boat (IRB) championships 2016 held in Exmouth. Devon. The competition tests the skills of IRB drivers and crew through various simulated rescues.
Once again, the sun was out for the IRB championships and there was a great buzz of anticipation in the air. The Bantham team where in great spirits and their teamwork paid off with excellent results! The men’s team took first and second place in the coveted blue ribbon single recue event. The ladies team had a superb day with two national titles in the single and mass rescue event. The masters got two silver medals in the single and tube event. There were lots of happy faces, as each of the eleven-team members came home with at least one medal. For more information about the inshore rescue boats please call Jason Jackson on 07710541769.

Open Day 2016 was a great success, thanks to everyone who helped out and supported the day.
The sun shone and people were hungry, so we sold out of burgers! Cake sales were huge, and as this is from donations this is all pure profit! The profit on the day was in the region of £950, which is a big part of the money we need to buy new kit for the club The lucky 100 Grand Prize draw has only 36 squares to be sold, so everyone who hasn't contacted me so far to reserve a ticket should do so at their earliest convenience to avoid disappointment! Email me on [email protected] If we manage to sell all the 100 squares this will raise £1000 which would then make 2016 a truly brilliant year! We will be drawing the winning tickets on Nipper champs day and we will also be having a barbecue to feed anyone who is hungry! Date - TBC in September Thanks again to everyone for all their hard work and effort. Sue Durrant |
