Beach Safety
Our beach, Bantham, is an area of outstanding natural beauty. With the iconic view of Burgh Island and water sporting activities from bodyboarding to kitesurfing. The sandy beach and shallow water make it an ideal family location. It is one of the best and most popular surfing beaches in Devon. However, the shallow water and surf can cause many dangers and hazards. The most common incident at Bantham involves either Weaver fish stings and the rip current. Be sure to check conditions and/or speak to a lifeguard before entering the water. |
The RNLI operate on the beaches from 1000 – 1800 on the following dates;

On the spring low tides, families tend to wade across the river to Burgh island. However, this is extremely dangerous as we have very fast-moving tides and you may be stranded. Please speak to a lifeguard or member of our club for more information.
