Become a Lifeguard

Our club is eager to qualify as many enthusiastic members as we can. Our club needs qualified lifeguards to help patrol on our busy Sundays. The qualification also helps to allow you to help with our water safety cover events. Senior qualified members can apply to become season lifeguards with the RNLI.

To become a volunteer or paid lifeguard there are a number of minimum requirements you must meet:

  • Firstly you will need to be a member of an affiliated Surf Life Saving Club in Great Britain
  • You will need to hold a current Beach Lifeguard Award (NARS Beach Lifeguard award)
  • Be compliant with the RNLI’s medical requirements (checked annually)
  • Pass a police check (every three years for volunteers)
  • Meet the fitness requirements
